Director of Strength and Conditioning
Coach David comes to Elevation Prep from Brooklyn, New York. He has earned his Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology from DePauw University and his Master of Science in Exercise and Nutrition Science from the University of Tampa. During his time at DePauw, he completed 4-years of Division III Track and Field. He has taken courses in biomechanics, motor control, exercise physiology, sport psychology, and much more to grow his knowledge and advance his training. He has had the privilege of training with an Olympic hurdler while studying abroad. David has also coached two nationally ranked women's basketball players at VAST Sports Performance in Tampa.
Operations and Administrative Assistant
Hannah comes to Elevation Prep as an intern from Colorado Springs, Colorado. She has earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Ethnic Studies from the University of Colorado, Boulder and is working on completing her Master of Science degree in Sport and Exercise Health Sciences. During her time at CU, she worked for the university's athletic department in the ticketing office and with Colorado Football's Recruiting Department.
Director International Operations
Coach Marcelo came to the United States from El Salvador for greater opportunities. Using his gift of a live right arm, Marcelo pitched for three different colleges, eventually earning his degree from Webber College. Marcelo interned with the Detroit Tigers before coming to Sarasota to head Florida International Baseball Academy's international recruiting department. Since then, Marcelo has also taken on the role of Director of International Affairs for Elevation Prep. He also coaches multiple teams, ranging from age 13 through college level, and conducts private instruction at Ball and Shoe Sports Center.
We are lucky to have Ryan join our teaching staff. After giving to his country and serving in our armed services, Ryan eventually found his true passion. Teaching gives Ryan the chance to pass on to younger generations his passion.
DIRECTOR OF BASKETBALL OPERATIONS AND OWNER OF 212 SPORTS ACADEMY
John comes to 212° Academy with a prestigious background. Most recently, IMG Academy, where he held the same position leading their Post Graduate program to numerous ranked finished and even Final Four appearances. Mahoney has over 30 years of coaching experience including high school state championships, Universities like Michigan, West Virginia and Duquesne , and prep school programs. Over the years he's coached and mentored hundreds of NCAA Division 1 athletes as well as NBA players and of course has helped place student athletes at all levels of NCAA and Pro Levels.
Mahoney spent 5 years working with John Beilein who he's modeled his approach and basketball philosophy after these past years. Mahoney, over the years has developed intimate relationships with high schools, AAU coaches, collegiate coaches, professional coaches and even scouts across all levels. As the head of IMG Post-Grad program, Mahoney, recruited and developed 3 NBA first-round drafts picks with many players actively playing today in the NBA, overseas, and all through the NCAA.
Post Graduate Basketball Coach
Brian comes to 212 Academy and Elevation Prep from Kennesaw, Georgia where he played at Kell High School. He was rated a 3-Star recruit by Rivals and was ranked the 16th best player in Georgia's loaded 2017 class. Other players in this class such as Collin Sexton and Wendell Carter among others.
Brian played collegiate basketball at Florida Gulf Coast University from his Freshman to Junior year where he was considered one of the best defenders in the entire Atlantic Sun conference and also holds the all time record for block percentage in the Atlantic Sun. Brian also tied the single-game school record for blocked shots in the ASUN Quarterfinal game against Lipscomb with 8 blocked shots.
Brian then transferred to Grambling State University for his senior year in which he is a recent graduate with a Criminal Justice Major.
Mr. Sabin graduated from Bentley College with a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Bentley College. Upon graduation from college, John was employed as a Financial Analyst and Finance Director of a utility company. Prior to employment at Elevation Preparatory Academy, he worked at a local private college preparatory school and a school for the gifted in Tampa teaching math.
