Maya Cox was born and raised in Tampa, FL. She completed her Associates degree in high school at St. Petersburg College. After graduation, she pursued her Bachelor’s degree at the University of South Florida, studying chemistry and concentrating on biochemistry and biotechnology. During her undergraduate studies, she was actively involved as a volunteer at Tampa General Hospital. Through her involvement, she helped pilot a tutoring program for teenage and young adult patients to keep them on track for high school graduation or pass their GED with college readiness scores. She served as the President of Institute Council through her church’s board of education, helping young adults gain spiritual education and fellowship. In addition to professional pursuits, Ms. Cox enjoys training for half marathons and triathlons, baking and cooking, and spending time outdoors.
